OVERVIEW :

The NBME offers three web-based self-assessments to medical students and graduates evaluating their readiness to take USMLE:

• Comprehensive Basic Science Self-Assessment (CBSSA)
  The CBSSA uses multiple-choice items based on information typically covered during basic science medical education courses. The content of the CBSSA items resembles the content of those in Step 1 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®).
• Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment (CCSSA)
  The CCSSA uses multiple-choice items based on information typically covered during the core clinical clerkships. The content of the CCSSA items resembles the content of those in Step 2 CK of the USMLE.
• Comprehensive Clinical Medicine Self-Assessment (CCMSA)
  The CCMSA uses information typically covered in clinical encounters. The content of the CCMSA items resembles the content of those in the multiple-choice component of Step 3 of the USMLE.

 

UPDATES ON NEW NBME STEP 1 2021 FORMS :

Designed to enhance students’ learning and align with USMLE® exam content, new versions of Comprehensive Basic Science Self-Assessment forms are now available, and other forms have retired. New versions of Self-Assessments:

• Self-Assessment forms are occasionally retired and replaced with new versions to help you prepare for upcoming exams and provide a current, enhanced educational experience. Some self-assessment forms will be retired at the same time new forms are released. 

New Versions of Forms and Retired Forms: 

Comprehensive Basic Science Self-Assessments: March 24, 2021 

• Updated Forms: 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 
• Retired Forms: 18, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24
